A Meeting of Rivers
Friends of the Cam is one of four groups working on the “Meeting of Rivers” programme. Its inaugural workshop was co-hosted by the Friends of the Cam on the 19th and 20th of September at St Lukes Church, Cambridge. A report was published in the Cambridge Independent here.
This workshop is the first in a series and brought together grassroots and activist groups in the UK who are actively working to introduce the rights of nature into their local area. By the end of this project, we hope to have built a network between these groups, as well as a website to host useful resources and to better enable communication and collaboration between these groups.
The Meeting of Rivers project is run by Neil Williams, Jeremie Gilbert and Anne Robisonson from Southampton and Roehampton Universities and is generously supported by a grant from the AHRC. Four workshops over the course of the coming years, each hosted by a different group working towards introducing RoN in their area – Friends of the Cam (Cambridge), Love Our Ouse (Lewes), OPUS - River Dôn Project (Sheffield), and the Bioregional Learning Centre (Totnes).
